Digipack photoshop play

Hannah began to play on photo shop using the fish eye lens photography taken on her SLR camera on location. The background image has been hegightened in contrast so that the vibrant colours draw attention to the cover. A simple font was used in the top right hand corner. This image is powerful yet we thought it was not the image right for the front cover.

Another play using a different image, again the colours have been heightened in contrast, this again is a very powerful photograph and the bright light 'at the end of the tunnel' cliche, is a very dramatic image, the colourful lights drawing to a distant point creates a dynamic image. I do think at a first glance that the negative space on the floor would be perfect for track listings, and a white font would be stark against the gritty dull flooring. The font also appears too harsh yet its positioning is creative.

This was simply a play to see weather a dramatic image would work in the negative space of the flooring, the composition of this is enticing but the use of overlay isnt working well due to the brightness of the tunnel photography.

I then decided to try and elaborate on this when I got home...
Having a play on photo shop elements I continued to use the tunnel photographs as an overlay or back ground however i found as you can see the lights were too prominent for the overlay to work. I therefore think that this photograph will look stunning on it own, maybe on the back with track running across the ground?

Below are screen grabs of me using the soft ware, trying out different overlays and overlay effects such as 'pin light' and 'screen'.As you can see even when I cut out the image using the magnet lasso, the image behind was still too bright and shone through.

Using the Hackney Rd light screen grab as an overlay - its dramatic green contrast the the yellow and orange tones of our main photograph.

Cutting out the overlay using the template of the image behind, this then eradicates the overlay obscuring the powerful image used.Building on this further an overlay of blurred lights which I has taken previously was added to increase creativity and interest on the front cover.
The final image produced, I am happy with the result, its power and intensity would be eye catching and the use of lighting matches the video. Using this image would maintain coherence between the digipak and the magazine article.
